Lady Bay Open Gardens – A blooming success!

CL4Women were proud sponsors of the Lady Bay Open Gardens for the second consecutive year and we are thrilled to report that the event was a huge success!

The Open Gardens were held over the weekend of July 06th and 07th with local residents of the Lady Bay area of West Bridgford kindly opening their beautiful gardens for show. Over 1,100 people attended over the weekend and a massive £7,700 was raised with all profits donated to the Lady Bay Community Fund and various charities nominated by garden owners.

The chair of the Open Gardens committee Tony Papkiewicz said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in making this year’s Lady Bay Open Gardens an enormous success and thanks to all our visitors too!  It was another super weekend, with beautiful sunshine and fantastic gardens shown in their very best light.”

We were also a little more involved with this year’s event as me and my colleague, Bridget Harris, organised an Alice in Wonderland-inspired treasure hunt for families to take part in! With various clues hidden across the gardens, those participants who correctly guessed all of the clues were entered into a prize draw.

We were delighted to announce that the winner was Carole Forsyth who worked out all of the clues and won a £50 garden centre voucher – well done, Carole!

The dates for next year’s Open Gardens have already been confirmed for 04th and 05th July. So if you fancy a weekend exploring some of our wonderful local gardens, why not pop along? I might see you there!
