Making a difference by making the right choices

Wind turbines, solar panels, ground or air source heat pumps or purchasing your first electric car are all ways you can take steps to help ‘save the planet’ when it comes to climate change. Many of us are starting to do our bit, but we have a long way to go!
In my journey with CL4Women responsible investment choices have been a high priority for many of our ladies, who seem to care very much where their hard earned money is invested, so that it will contribute to a greener and brighter future for all of us and our children and grandchildren.
Watching Richard Attenborough ‘Blue Planet’ has made us all realise the impact global warming is having on the world we live in. Taking responsibility for restoring biodiversity, limiting population growth, switching to renewable energy, mitigating climate change, reducing meat consumption and setting aside more areas for natural preservation are the responsibility of all of us.
As part of this, Cockburn Lucas and CL4Women are taking steps to reduce our ‘ecological footprint’ by analysing what impact our behaviours as a business have on our environment. I personally have taken this on board by being the first of our adviser team to order an electric vehicle. Driving around 10,000 miles per year in a diesel car was something I needed to change. How can you talk the talk, if you don’t walk the walk?!
During a time when energy bills from fossil fuels remain high, now is the time for change, especially if we can create energy closer to home whilst doing good with our choices.
Good luck with your endeavours. Oh and by the way, it makes you feel good too…
